Yalsin is studying Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. As a medical student and also an amateur software engineer, he is currently active in several social initiatives as the chief of technology. He founded iHappyU, a non-governmental organization that aims to promote social cohesion, equality and amicability. iHappyU Card, the first project launched by the organization, incorporates technology with positive psychology to promote the concept of Pay It Forward. The next project, which is in the making, will target the problem of social inequality. Yalsin is also a founding member of the BookShare initiative (name-pending), which aims at enriching schools libraries in a sustainable way. Combining his two interests, Yalsin intends to help advance medicine by furthering interdisciplinary cooperation between computer science and medicine.
