Frederick is majoring in education and psychology at The University of Hong Kong. When he was a secondary school student, he actively organized various social services to visit elderly homes and disadvantaged families. The smiles on the faces of elderly and children have reinforced him that he has the responsibility and ability to make positive contributions to Hong Kong.
In his freshman year, Frederick has joined Broaden Education as a tutor, a social enterprise that provides discounted and even free private tutorial services to students coming from low-income families or with special educational needs. Moreover, he is working as an intern in Hong Kong Developmental Paediatrics Centre. He assists educational psychologists in the group training tailored for the ADHD and autism children, hence gaining hands-on experience in psychotherapy. By acquiring invaluable working experiences in the field of education and psychology, he aspires to become an educational psychologist to provide more affordable treatments to children with special educational needs.
With The D. H. Chen Foundation Scholarship, Frederick hopes to connect with like-minded Scholars and blossom under the guidance of experienced Mentors. By building synergistic relationships with them, he believes ideas could be generated to tackle challenges faced by Hong Kong and make his home a better place.
