Edrick is an undergraduate student majoring in Economics and Finance at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Economics is deeply related to everyone’s daily life, especially here in Hong Kong. His goal is to help maintain Hong Kong’s role as an International Financial Centre, which will improve economic stability and people’s quality of life. Edrick believes that his university knowledge and internship experience in a local SME will further enable him to integrate knowledge with the real business world and understand the needs of a small business ecosystem.
Edrick is also passionate about social service. He joined a voluntary teaching trip to a village school in Northern Thailand. Students were underprivileged children from the neighborhood with poor hygiene and a broken school. The team helped with renovations and painted one of the classrooms. He also cares about the local community and often takes part in services offered by the University volunteer community, including the campus cleanup after last year’s devastating typhoon Mangkhut. He is grateful to be supported by The D. H. Chen Foundation and now hopes to switch the role from a participant to an organizer of social service projects so as to contribute to our society with other scholars.
