Cindy is a Product Design student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a recipient of “The Most Outstanding PolyU Student Award 2018”. Believing that eating and food are far more than bodily sustenance, Cindy explores the connection between food, arts and history through her self-initiated project “Deep Food”. Besides, she is passionate about design and change making, therefore has initiated a student-led learning group named “SD Open Ideas”, a group that triggers intellectual debates and interdisciplinary collaboration among students in PolyU and non-profit partners for the greater social good. Within one year of establishment, the community has united more than 150 members in the School of Design and engaged no fewer than 30 design and social science students in a social design project. Their project, Make4all has been delivering experimental social service to NGOs and secondary schools realizing “shared production” as a new production system for the society. It was subsequently invited to be exhibited at an annual event (May 2016) of the Museum Nights Cologne in Germany.

Cindy also used her design abilities to help the underprivileged through her designs for social enterprises. She had also organized a short course on design for the Jockey-Club Ti-I College and curated a design exhibition called “Design Says” to promote design that critically reflects society. She has interned in several global and local design companies and volunteered as a graphic designer for various NGOs.
